  • Getting it

    "Ah...I get it...I get it..."

....was what I said earlier when one of the consultants (attending physicians) taught me how to interpret a lab result. She had asked me to interpret one of the patients laboratories, and so i proceeded, to break down the interpretation as to why this was this and that was that... somewhere along the way, while I was trying to explain in my own way how I interpret lab results , she got irritated and said, "Ok, just be frank with me, Do you know? or Do you not know?"

I could very well not answer I do not know, because i was explaining and I knew what the word pyuria  meant. But then again, I could not say "I know" because i didn't understand now why she thought i was "beating around the bush", and trying to act smart. I wasn't, she asked me a question...and i was trying to answer. (I went through the interpretation step by step pa nga.)

When i said those words above...i was in no way being arrogant or disrespectful. I had meant it, as "Aahh...yes, I understand now." or "Aahh..yes, it is clear to me now, and I understand what you are trying to teach me."

I was told earlier, after the incident that i should have just backed down...and i was frustrated, because she HAD asked me a question, and she expected me to answer... And ithat maybe, i should choose my language whenever I'm around consultants.

...Which probably means I have to speak direct to the point Shakespearean then, so i won't offend anybody, the next time around.

p.s. Arrogance. *sigh* So that's they call it now?
